LTER Education Outreach

This workshop brought together members coordinating educational activities at each LTER site to discuss curriculum issues related to LTER. Steven McGee provided an overview of the Journey to El Yunque Web site as an example of LTER curriculum development. Christine Korbak and David Brown from the GLOBE program provided an overview of GLOBE data collection activities.

Two groups formed to discuss curriculum development and LTER connections with GLOBE. In the GLOBE group, the GLOBE representatives made a commitment to support LTER activities by providing information about regional GLOBE training partners. LTER sites could also be trained to become GLOBE training facilities.

In the curriculum group, representatives from LTER sites discussed current curriculum development activities. A commitment was made to develop a joint proposal to the NSF Instructional Materials Development program at NSF.

Further discussion took place at the Education Committee workshop on Sunday.
