Limnology researchers Ted Cummings and Vicki Schwantes take depth samples of the water in Lake Mendota and use a plankton net to do a vertical tow sample, collecting the zooplankton daphnae as part of bi-weekly monitoring of lake conditions, photographed from underwater by half-submerging a camera in an aquarium.
