LTER Spatial Data Workbench SRB Data Access

Data of the LTER Spatial Data Workbench, can be accessed through:

• The LTER Spatial Data Workbench SDSC Storage Resource Broker (see this page)
• The LTER Spatial Data Workbench - Browse Image Page
• Anonymous FTP access access to data archives at the LTER Network Office, organized by site acronym of the LTER Network
• Additional access will be added though the developing LTER Network Information System

The SDW Prototype page developed at the San Diego Supercomputer Center provides an overview of  SDW capabilities in progress.

A quick view of data arranged by sensor type can be seen at the original SDW data browse page, an ftp-type access page to SDW data contents maintained at the San Diego Supercomputer Center.  Data downloaded from this access page will contain "html" header information which will need to be removed before use.

The primary Storage Resource Broker (SRB) access to LTER Spatial Data Workbench data is available through the various SRB Browser and "InQ"  data access software tools written for Unix, Linux and Windows at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. Installation instructions and documentation are provided with the software.  Use the access parameters listed below for the various data access tools.  Note that if data have not been accessed recently, they will be retrieved from near-line storage which can take a few seconds or minutes to queue.

• For data access through the "InQ" browser tool, use the following access parameters:
  • Name:             hluser
  • Host:               srb.sdsc.edu
  • Domain:          lter
  • Authorization: ENCRYPT1
  • Port :               6613 (for version 1.2), or 5613 (for version 1.0)
  • Password:       HLUSER
  • switch to the "hlcurator.lter" collection for data access
  • data can be downloaded a file at a time, or by "drag and drop" into a folder window
  
  
• For "SRB Browser" tools, use the following access parameters:
  • SRB Host:      srb.sdsc.edu
  • User Domain: lter
  • Default Resource: hyperlter-hpss-sdsc
  • Authentication Scheme: ENCRYPT1
  • Authorization: ENCRYPT1
  • Port : 6613 (for version 1.2), or 5613 (for version 1.0)
  • SRB Password: HLUSER
  • Port Number: 6613 (for version 2.0), or 5613 (for version 1.8)
  • switch to the "hlcurator.lter" collection for data access and download

Go to the home/hlcurator.lter directory by double-clicking on "home" in the left panel, then hlcurator.lter in the right panel. From there, navigate through the directory structure. Download files either by right clicking on a desired file, or by using the "Operation..." menu.
